Peonies and pastels for an elegant summer wedding at Mill Barns.
Posted on January 10th, 2019
Its that time of the year to catch up with sharing more of last year’s weddings, and I’ve so many gorgeous weddings to share! First up is Tom and Lucy’s elegant summer wedding at Mill Barns, Alverley, beautifully captured by Bowtie and Belle Photography.
Taking a classic colour palette of soft blush pinks and ivory whites with lots of eucalyptus foliage. I used peonies and roses as the main focal flowers with lots of pretty seasonal blooms including astilbe, larkspur, scabious, nigella, and astrantia. Lucy’s bouquet was filled with all the pretty in a natural, unstructured style, bound with hand-dyed silk ribbons.
Lucy’s bridesmaids wore a combination of pale duck egg and dove grey dresses which toned beautifully with the ivory and grey-green foliage in the bouquets.
The boys had buttonholes with pale spray roses, astrantia and eucalyptus foliage, I added in a sprig of philadelphus (mock orange) into Tom’s buttonhole which smelt delicious!
The church was simply decorated with two churns filled to the brim with summer flowers which were then moved back the venue.
The reception was held back at The Mill Barns and Lauradana from Wedding Creations was on hand to style their day beautifully. Guests were welcomed to this elegant summer wedding with a handprinted sign which I decorated with flowers and foliage. We then styled the entrance steps with a garland of foliage and lanterns, placing the churns from the church at the bottom of the steps. The couple’s table plan was a fab watercolour by De Winton Paper Co of lots of gin bottles which I hung off my copper pipe stand and dressed with flowers and trailing foliage.
Lucy and Tom went for traditional round tables which Lauradana styled with linen runners, votives and frames with the individual gin bottle pictures. I filled low compote urns with summer blooms overspilling for a natural, just picked look. Adding in lots of fragrant flowers like sweet peas and mock orange filled the room with the scent of summer. The top table was a central long table which I dressed simply with bud vases of stems as the statement florals were a ‘floating’ garland of foliage and flowers behind the table which added wow-factor when guests entered the room and provided a great backdrop during the speeches.
Huge thanks to Bowtie and Belle Photography for these stunning images, and of course Lucy and Tom for giving me such a gorgeous brief to create flowers for their elegant summer wedding! To see more of Bowtie & Belle’s photography take a peek at their website here.
