As you will know I’m a big fan of colour and for me the height of summer is the ideal time to take advantage of all the seasonal flowers that bloom in colourful abundance and use the pick of the garden in my wedding flowers. This approach was the perfect fit for Jen and Mike’s summer wedding at Homme House in Much Marcle, one of my favourite country house venues. Herefordshire photographer Russell Lewis Photography was on hand to capture this beautiful day in all it’s colourful glory and has kindly let me share his images here for your viewing pleasure!
Jen’s bouquet was the epitome of summer, a natural hand-tie full of colours, shapes and textures from a whole host of seasonal flowers including dahlias, cosmos, delphiniums, achellia, larkspur, scabious and snapdragons to name just a few. With the bright mix of colours I added lots of textured herbs and grasses to keep the flowers natural and pretty to fit the relaxed setting of a country wedding at Homme House. I also bound the bouquet with colourful trailing ribbons to add movement and a splash of colour against her stunning dress.
As well as the colourful bouquets I created a pretty bridal flower crown for Jen, whilst her bridesmaids had flower combs. Her cute little flower girl wore a dainty crown of pink waxflowers.
The chaps all had dahlia buttonholes in a mix of colours together with little yellow balls of crapedia, waxflowers, thistle and foliages.
The ceremony was held in St Bartholomew’s Church on the edge of Homme’s stunning parkland and I decorated the church with vintage churns of flowers by the entrance, a pedestal arrangement inside by the signing table and tall buckets filled with clouds of gypsophila as the ‘pew ends’.
Back at Homme for the reception the tables were decorated with wooden boxes filled with summery blooms and I lined up lots of coloured bottles filled with flowers along the mantelpiece in the dining room. The couple also dotted jam jars of flowers throughout the house and brought the garden inside with lots of potted plants for a really summery feel.
I really loved all the colours and mix of flowers for this relaxed summer wedding at Homme House, the elegant building and decor was brought to life with the vibrant colours in the summer sun. As one of my favourite local venues it’s great to see the house decorated throughout the seasons so whether you’re planning a summer wedding or are going for a fresh spring or mellow Autumn date do get in touch to discuss your wedding flowers at Homme House. You can also take a look through more weddings I’ve done at Homme by selecting the category under Venue Flowers. I’ll leave you with another lovely shot of Jen’s summery bouquet.
